Why AI Pilots Stall

Pilots stall when nobody owns the work

Most owners I talk to have tried AI already. A subscription got bought, somebody ran a handful of prompts, and the tool now sits unused. Nobody can say which task it handles, who checks the output, or how many hours it returned.

Underneath that is a fear of replacement. A staff member hears the word automation and assumes the next step is a layoff, so the tool gets quietly avoided. That fear is reasonable, and it is the first thing I plan around.

What AI Augmentation Means

Capacity added, roles kept

Augmentation means the AI takes the repeat steps of a job, and the person keeps the steps that need judgment: the client call, the diagnosis, the money decision, the complaint that needs a human voice. The job stays theirs and gets lighter.

I do not sell headcount cuts. If a role is built mostly around repeat work, I say that in the written scope and plan the change with the person who holds the role, before anything is built.

An owner at work in a modern office

Role By Role Augmentation

Every role gets its own plan

I start with the roles, not the software. Each row below is a typical role in a Valley business, the repeat work a system can take, and the part that stays with a person. The plan for your team is written from your own roles, not copied from this table.
RoleThe repeat workThe part that stays humanWhat the system does
Front deskRoutine calls and booking requestsGreeting, triage and anything upsetTakes the routine call, books it and hands the rest to a person
Office managerReminders, follow-ups and filingVendor and staff decisionsDrafts reminders and follow-ups for approval
Estimator or technicianQuote drafts from a standard formSite visits and the final priceFills a draft quote from the intake notes
BookkeeperMatching receipts and invoicesExceptions and tax questionsMatches the routine items and flags the rest
Account managerStatus updates and renewal remindersRelationships and escalationsSends the standard update and logs the reply
Marketing leadFirst drafts of posts and emailsVoice, offers and final approvalDrafts from the approved brief and never publishes alone

How I Build An Augmentation

Five steps from one role to live

1. Map the role

I sit with the person who holds the role and list every task, how often it happens and where the work is kept.

2. Build one workflow

One repeat task gets one workflow, connected to the tools the team already uses, with a human approval step.

3. Test on real cases

I run the workflow on last month's real work and check every output against what the person would have done.

4. Hand over the log

The team receives the log, the approval queue and written instructions for pausing the workflow at any point.

5. Review every month

Each month I read the log with the owner, decide what to tighten, and decide whether the next role is ready.

Who It Is For

Owners who want the same team

This fits owners of professional practices, larger home-services companies and service firms that have more repeat work than hours. It fits best when the owner wants the people already on staff to get more done, and is willing to name the one role that changes first.

If the goal is cutting payroll with AI, I am the wrong person for the job, and I say so on the first call rather than sell a plan I would not stand behind.

What Arrives On Every Engagement

What the owner gets in writing

The deliverables are the same whatever the industry. What changes is the role, the tools behind it and the people who review the output.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone
  • A written role plan showing what stays human
  • One workflow for one role, connected to your tools
  • A log of every automated action, open to you
  • Training for the people who use the workflow
  • A monthly review of what the workflow handled

Have You Built One

Closest work and what it was not

The system I can show you running is the one my own company runs on, documented on its work page, where every automated step is filed in a log I can open. It proves the mechanics on my own operation. It does not prove a client team's results, and I do not claim that it does.

The second build is the WebVegas front desk, which answers calls in English or Spanish and puts booked work on the calendar. It covers the calls a receptionist would miss, so the people already on the team keep the calls they can take.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

From what I've seen, Justin knows the AI automation space better than most people I've come across in Las Vegas. He's the kind of person who actually understands the technical side and can explain it without making you feel lost. Good guy, good reputation.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

AI Augmentation Cost

How the price gets set

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have looked at the roles involved. The number moves with how many roles the plan covers, how many systems each workflow must connect to, and how much training the team needs. A quote for a team I have not seen is a guess, so the first step is a look at the work.

  • Number of roles in scope
  • Systems each workflow must connect to
  • How often a person reviews the output
  • Training sessions for the staff who use it
  • Monthly review after launch

Guardrails For Staff AI

Limits set before anything runs

Every workflow has a human approval point before anything leaves the building: a message to a customer, a payment, a change to a record. The system writes its own log, so the owner can see what ran and why. I set those limits with the person who holds the role, and they can switch a step off.

  • No automatic customer message without approval
  • No change to payment or payroll records
  • Every action written to a log the owner can open
  • Access limited to the systems that role uses
  • A stop switch the owner controls

Who Writes The System

One builder from scope to log

I am Justin Harris. I have built websites and run digital marketing for Las Vegas businesses for fourteen years, and the AI systems I build are part of the same work. You talk to the person designing the workflow, not to a handoff team.

A Las Vegas client wrote on Google that I was the person to call for AI advice. Yaneliz M. put it this way: "He knew the subject well and didn't overcomplicate it."

Where I Start

Start with one role, not a platform

The first conversation is about one role that loses the most hours to repeat work. Once that role runs with a log and a review habit, the next role is scoped. Owners who want a platform on day one get a plan that waits until the first role has been used for a month.

A written role plan first

Send me the role you want to start with, and I will reply with a written plan for that role: what stays human, what the workflow would take over and what the scope covers. You decide before anything is built.
