Klaviyo Agency

Flows Tested Before They Send

As a Klaviyo agency, I audit the flows that already run, rebuild the ones that leak and test every path with a test contact before a real customer sees it. The account stays with the store.

What does a Klaviyo agency do?

Flows, segments and the list behind them

A Klaviyo agency builds and maintains the automated emails a store sends from the customer's own behavior: the welcome after a first sign-up, the reminder after a cart is left behind, the message after a purchase and the win-back for a customer who has gone quiet. Klaviyo keeps the list, the segments and the purchase data that decide who receives each one.

The work that pays is rarely the newest flow. It is the old welcome sequence that nobody has opened since launch, the cart reminder with a broken link and the segment that still includes people who asked to leave. I start with those.

Klaviyo welcome flow setup

The first email a new customer reads

A welcome flow runs when someone joins the list, and it has one job: give a new customer a reason to buy, then get out of the way. I write each email around one idea, such as the best-selling product, the story behind the brand or the first-order offer, and I set the timing so the sequence ends before the customer forgets why they signed up.

Each email is built in Klaviyo's editor with the product blocks pulled from the store, so a price change or a sold-out item updates in the message without a manual edit.

Klaviyo abandoned cart flow

The cart that went quiet

An abandoned cart flow starts when a shopper adds items and leaves before paying. The first message names the items they left, the second answers the usual hesitation, such as shipping or sizing, and the third is the last nudge. A purchase during the sequence removes the shopper from every remaining step.

The most common fault I find is a flow that keeps sending after the purchase. The fix is an exit on the placed-order event, and I test it with a real test order before the flow goes live.

Klaviyo flows that never get tested

Flows nobody checked after launch

Most store owners set up their Klaviyo flows once and then stop looking at them. The flows keep sending, the copy goes out of date and a discount in one message contradicts the offer in the next. Nobody notices, because the flows are not on anyone's weekly list.

I put every live flow on a test schedule. Each path is run with a test contact, the links are clicked, the stop rules are checked and the copy is compared with what the store sells this month.

Core Klaviyo flows I audit first

The five flows that carry most sales

The audit starts with the flows that most stores run. Each row names what the flow does and what I check in it first.
FlowWhat it doesWhat I check first
WelcomeIntroduces the brand to a new subscriberTiming, the first offer and the exit on purchase
Abandoned cartReminds a shopper about items left in the cartThe exit on a completed order and the live product links
Browse abandonmentFollows up on products viewed but not addedSuppression for shoppers who already bought
Post-purchaseThanks the buyer and suggests a next productTiming against the delivery window and the reviews ask
Win-backRe-engages a customer who has stopped buyingWhether the offer matches the customer's last order

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

Klaviyo segments and list health

Who gets which message

A segment decides who receives a flow, and a bad segment sends the right message to the wrong person. A list that includes people who unsubscribed, bounced or never opted in damages every flow built on top of it, so list health comes before flow design.

I review the segments that feed each flow, remove the contacts who should not be there and document the rule behind each segment so the store team can read it later.

A storefront street in the Valley

Klaviyo reporting by revenue

Revenue per flow, not opens

Open rates tell you a message was seen. They do not tell you whether the flow earned anything. I report revenue per flow, orders placed after each message and the share of subscribers who reached each step, so you can see which flows carry the store and which ones only send.

Each monthly readout names the flows that changed, the change that was made and the figure that moved after it. Every number comes from your Klaviyo account, and you can open the same screen to check it.

Klaviyo email marketing for ecommerce

Email for a store that sells online

Ecommerce brands run on repeat buyers, and email is the cheapest way to reach them again. The flows and campaigns should carry the offer the store is actually making this month, and the copy should sound like the brand that sells it.

I also write the campaign calendar around the flows, so a sale does not send a discount to someone who is already in a win-back, and a new product launch reaches the people most likely to want it.

An owner at work in a modern office

Store connection before email

The store feeds the flows

A flow is only as accurate as the data behind it. The store connection has to pass the right product, price, inventory and order events into Klaviyo before any message is written. If the connection is wrong, the best copy in the world sends the wrong product.

On an existing store I check that connection first. On a new store I build it with the flows in mind, so the checkout, the order events and the product feed are set up together.

GIOSTAR brand hub, a system I built

Consent and list growth for Klaviyo

A list that only holds opt-ins

I import only contacts who opted in, and I record where each group came from. A signup form on the site, a checkout checkbox and a past customer list each carry different consent, and the segments keep them apart.

Whether a given message meets the rules that apply to your store is your attorney's call. I build the consent settings your attorney approves and keep the source of each contact on record.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone

How a Klaviyo audit runs

Export, review, fix, test, report

Each audit follows the same five steps, and each one leaves a document the store owner can open.

  1. Step 01

    Export the setup

I list every flow, segment and template with its status, its last edit and its trigger.

  2. Step 02

    Review each path

Every flow is walked with a test contact, and every fault goes into a written fix list.

  3. Step 03

    Fix what is safe

Broken links, stale copy and missing exits are fixed first, and the changes are logged by date.

  4. Step 04

    Test before launch

Each changed flow gets a test send and a test order before it goes back to real customers.

  5. Step 05

    Report the change

A short readout names each flow changed and the revenue figure to watch over the next month.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

How much does Klaviyo email marketing cost

What moves the scope

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have opened the account and seen the store. I do not print a number before that look, because a store with twelve flows and a store with two need very different work.

GIOSTAR homepage, a website I built
  • How many live flows the audit must cover
  • The state of the list and the segments that feed it
  • Whether the store connection needs rebuilding

  • How much the store team will run afterward

Klaviyo and marketing automation

Where Klaviyo sits in the wider plan

Klaviyo handles the messages to a store's customers. A wider plan can add text messages, a booking flow or a sales pipeline, and I build those connections only when the store needs them. The first question is always whether the flows that already exist are working.
