Credit Union Advertising

Product Ads Traced to Accounts

Credit union advertising built so each product campaign clears compliance review first and reports the applications it starts and the accounts it funds. I make no promises about membership growth, only about what I can trace.

Why Credit Union Ad Spend Goes Untraced

Impressions with no account opened

A credit union usually buys ads in bursts: a rate campaign for a savings product, a loan promotion before a holiday, a branch campaign for a new location. Each burst reports impressions and clicks. The report stops before the application, and the application stops before the account is funded, so the team cannot say which burst opened accounts.

The budget is then defended on activity. The board asks what the spend produced, and the honest answer is a set of clicks. The fix is a tracking line from each ad to each funded account, reviewed before the next burst is approved.

How I Run Credit Union Campaigns

One product, one campaign, one review

I build each campaign around a single product, so the offer, the disclosure and the measurement all describe the same thing. A campaign that promotes three products at once makes its disclosures hard to read and its results impossible to attribute. Each campaign clears review before it launches and has its own start date, end date and tracked path to application.

WebVegas homepage, a website I built
  • One product per campaign, with its terms beside the offer
  • A tracked link or code on every ad
  • A landing page for the product, not a general home page
  • An application path that starts from the ad
  • A launch log naming the channel, the date and the sign-off

Campaign Types by Product

Each product, its own campaign

Deposit products, auto loans, personal loans and mortgages each reach a different buyer and carry different disclosures. The table shows how each product type is run, what it must carry and what I track to the funded account.
Product campaignWhat it must carryWhat I track
Savings or checkingThe rate, the annual percentage yield and the fee termsAccounts opened and funded by source
Auto loanThe credit terms the advertising rules requireApplications started and approved
Personal loanThe credit terms and eligibilityApplications started and funded
MortgageThe credit terms and the housing rules that applyPre-applications and applications by source

Credit Union Advertising Rules

Rates and terms stated accurately

Three federal rules shape most credit union ads. The NCUA's advertising rule in 12 CFR Part 740 requires the insured-status notice and bars statements that misrepresent federal share insurance. Regulation DD governs how deposit rates and fees are advertised, including the annual percentage yield. Regulation Z sets the terms that must appear when a credit ad mentions a payment, a rate or a down payment.

These are marketing considerations, and I am not giving legal advice. I place the required disclosure beside each claim and flag any rate or term that lacks a current source. Whether an ad is compliant is your compliance officer's decision and your counsel's.

Platform Rules for Credit Ads

Restricted categories and extra checks

Several major ad platforms classify credit, lending and some financial products as restricted categories. Those categories can limit targeting, add verification before an ad runs and block some wording. The rules change, so I check each platform's current policy before each launch and record the check in the launch log.

GIOSTAR brand hub, a system I built
  • Targeting limited to what the platform allows for credit ads
  • Verification steps completed before the first run
  • Wording checked against the platform's restricted terms
  • Retargeting reviewed for what it implies about a member's finances
  • Campaigns paused when a platform changes its rules

Fair Lending and Targeting

Audiences that do not steer applicants

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act and its rule in Regulation B prohibit discrimination in credit, and advertising that discourages or steers applicants can create the same problem. Targeting that relies on protected characteristics is off the table. Member data does not go into an ad audience without a documented basis and compliance approval.

I explain each targeting choice in the launch log, so the compliance team can see who the campaign is aimed at and why.

Closest Credit Union Ad Work I Have

No credit union campaign claimed

I do not have a credit union campaign to show you, and I will not claim one. The closest work in the portfolio is brand and content work for other clients, and my own web design brand, WebVegas, is not a financial institution. What I bring to a credit union is the method: one product per campaign, a review path before launch and a readout that counts accounts.

Builds I Can Show You

Work I built, live where you can check it

Every build below is real and every link goes to the live work. Two of the five are full websites I built and still run. The other three are brand and content work, two of them for sites that are in build now, and each card says which.

For Quotible I built a social content system that turns real customer testimonials into on-brand posts and carousels.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Credit Union Campaign Readout

The campaign report the board can read

Every line can be checked against the core system and the funded-account records. I report on applications started and accounts funded by campaign, not on impressions.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • Impressions and clicks by campaign, for context only
  • Applications started and completed, by campaign and product
  • Accounts funded, with the lag from ad click to funding
  • Campaigns launched, paused or changed, with the sign-off date
  • Compliance review items raised and resolved
  • One recommendation for the next campaign, with the reason

Where ads and pages meet

Ads send members to product pages, so the campaign and the site are planned together. These pages cover the rest of the path.

How Credit Union Advertising Runs

Plan, review, launch, read

  1. Step 01

    Map the product calendar

I list each product, its rate changes and its launch windows, then build the campaign calendar from them.

  2. Step 02

    Set up tracking first

Tracked links, codes and the application source field go in before any ad runs, so each account carries its origin.

  3. Step 03

    Clear review, then launch

Each campaign goes live only after the compliance sign-off is on file, with the launch logged by channel and date.

  4. Step 04

    Read accounts each month

Each month I read the applications started and accounts funded, and I send one plain readout.

  5. Step 05

Change one campaign at a time

I change one campaign per cycle, so the team can see what moved the accounts and what did not.

What Moves a Credit Union Ad Quote

Scope, not a price list

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have reviewed your products, your channels and your review path. A credit union running one campaign a quarter is a different job from one running product campaigns across several channels every month. These are the factors that move the number, so you can judge any quote, mine included.

WebVegas homepage, a website I built
  • How many products and campaigns each year
  • How many channels each campaign runs on
  • How many review steps each piece passes before launch
  • Connections to the core system or the loan software
  • Reporting depth, from a monthly readout to a full application funnel

Who Does the Credit Union Advertising Work

One person from plan to readout

I am Justin Harris. I have built websites and run digital marketing for Las Vegas businesses for fourteen years, and I still do the work myself. When you hire me, you talk to the person who plans the campaigns, checks the claims and reads the accounts. There is no hand-off to a junior team in the middle.

You own the domain, the hosting and every login, and your team can pause a campaign or change a product page without calling me.
