Restaurant Website Design

A restaurant site that tracks orders

Restaurant website design puts the menu, the hours and the reservation and ordering links first, and tracks every booking and online order to the page that produced it.

Restaurant Website Design Strategy

Why restaurant sites lose the guest

A restaurant website is usually opened for one of three things: the menu, the hours, or a booking. Many sites make the guest hunt for all three behind a photo slideshow and a music autoplay, and the guest closes the tab and picks another place.

The owner rarely knows how many people opened the menu, how many clicked to book, and how many of those bookings came from the site at all. The site looks good and reports nothing.

Where the Template Breaks

Why a template menu costs you covers

Most restaurant sites are built on a template with a menu PDF attached. A PDF is slow on a phone, cannot be read in a hurry and does not record a single tap. The guest who needed the hours on the way to the door leaves before the file loads.

I build the menu as a web page, keep the hours and address at the top, and test the reservation and ordering links from a phone before launch.

Restaurant Website Design Services

What I build for restaurants

Most of the restaurants I would build for are independent owners and small groups with a dining room, takeout and a catering or private-event side. Each one has a different order of importance, so the site is built around the guest question that matters most.

Menu page

A readable menu on any phone, organized by course, with prices kept current and each section linked from the home page.

Reservation page

A booking link or form placed next to the hours, with a confirmation the guest can read and a tracked request for the host stand.

Online ordering

Direct links to your own ordering system, so the order is yours and not routed through a third-party listing.

Catering and events

A request form for groups and private dinners that routes to the events contact and is tracked like every other request.

Menu First on Mobile

The menu comes before the photos

Most guests search for a restaurant on a phone, often from the car, and they want three things in the first screen: where you are, when you are open and what you serve. So I design every page at phone width first and widen it from there.

Photos sit below the essentials. They are real photos of the room and the food, because a stock image of a kitchen makes a guest trust the site less.

GIOSTAR brand hub, a system I built
  • Address, hours and call button in the first screen
  • Menu one tap from the home page
  • Reservation and ordering links next to the hours
  • Real photos of the room and the food

Restaurant Site Tracking

Every booking traced to a page

Tracking is installed on the reservation link, the online ordering button, the call button and each phone number before launch. You get a plain report of visits, menu views, bookings, orders and calls, and you can see which page produced each one.

The report is built to be checked against your own point of sale and reservation book, so the site numbers and your sales numbers meet on the same page.

Ordering Links and Third-Party Apps

Own the ordering link

Delivery and listing apps are useful, but they take a commission on each order and keep the customer relationship. I set up a direct ordering link on your site, so guests who already like the place can order from you, and the order is tracked against that page.

Where a third-party app is part of your plan, I keep its links separate, so you can see which orders came from your own site and which came from the app.

Process proof, with no client case claimed

I have not built a restaurant website for a client, and I do not claim one. What I can show you is how I build every site: the menu page, the phone-first layout, the tracking and the handover of the domain and logins to you.

The live work below is the closest I have. The WebVegas site is my own web design brand, and I can walk you through its booking form step by step.

Website Launch Checklist

What I check before a restaurant site goes live

  1. Step 01

    Every link works

I test the menu, reservation and ordering links from a phone and a laptop and confirm each one opens the right page.

  2. Step 02

    Hours are right

I check the hours on the site against the listing profiles, so a guest does not drive to a closed door.

  3. Step 03

    Calls are tracked

Tap-to-call works on every page, and each call traces back to the page that produced it.

  4. Step 04

    You hold the keys

The domain, hosting and every login are in your name, and you get the list on day one.

Food Website Rules

Claims I keep off restaurant sites

Restaurant sites carry allergen notices, nutrition statements and alcohol wording. Those lines get checked by guests and by regulators, so I keep each claim tied to a fact the kitchen can show.

I treat these as marketing considerations only. Whether your allergen, nutrition and alcohol wording meets your licensing and local rules is a call for you and your counsel, and I will not tell you a site is compliant.

Restaurant Website Cost

What moves the price

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have looked at the site you have and the features you need. A menu-only site for a single location and a site with ordering, events and a multi-location menu are different jobs, so a price list would be wrong for most of the owners who ask.

Hosting, domain and any ordering or booking subscriptions are separate lines, and you see each one in the scope before you agree.

Every build below is real and every link goes to the live work. None of them is a restaurant site. The closest work I have is my own web design brand, which is a full build, and a regenerative clinic site, and each card says which.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.
