Google Business Profile Optimization

Why the profile decides the call

For most Las Vegas service businesses, the Google listing is the first page a buyer sees. It shows the hours, the category, the photos, the reviews and the phone button before the website loads, and a buyer on a phone often decides from that screen alone.

Optimizing the profile means making every field accurate, complete and specific to the services you sell and the areas you serve. It is careful, unglamorous work, and it is the part of local search that most owners never get to.

Google My Business Optimization

The old name, the same listing

Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile, and many owners still use the old name when they search. It is the same listing. If you claimed it years ago, the work is the same: check it, correct it and keep it current.

Ask anyone who offers Google My Business optimization to show you the current fields in the dashboard, not a screenshot from an old invoice. The live profile is the only thing that matters.

What a Half-Filled Profile Costs

The gaps buyers see first

A profile with the wrong hours, a category that does not match the work, or no photos of the place gives a buyer a reason to call someone else. The owner usually does not notice, because the listing looks finished from the inside.

These are the gaps I see most often when I open a listing for the first time.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • Hours that were right before a holiday schedule and never updated
  • A primary category that describes a related trade, not the one you sell
  • Services listed in one line, with no description of what they include
  • Photos from years ago, or none of the inside of the business
  • A website link that goes to the homepage instead of the service page

Edits Strangers Can Suggest

Who can change the listing

Anyone signed in to Google can suggest an edit to a listing. Some suggestions are useful, and some are wrong, and a wrong edit can sit there until someone reviews it. A profile that nobody checks is a profile someone else can change.

Google's Business Profile guidelines ask that a listing reflect the business accurately. My job is to make the real details easy to confirm, review any suggested edit against them and keep a record of every change.

Google lets anyone suggest an edit to a profile, and those suggestions can change an hours line, a category or a phone number without the owner noticing. I check the suggestion history on every profile I touch, reject the edits that do not match the business and log each one so the owner can see what came in.

Choosing Categories and Services

The primary category first

The primary category is the single most important choice on the profile, and it is often picked once during setup and never revisited. It tells Google which kind of business you are, so it should describe the work most of your revenue comes from.

Secondary categories and the service list add detail. I list only services you actually deliver, with a short description of what each one includes, so the listing matches what a buyer will find on the site.

Responding to Reviews on the Profile

Replies that stay on the record

Reviews on the profile are read by buyers and by Google, and the replies are part of the record. A short, specific reply to a review shows that the business is run by a real person who pays attention.

I draft replies for the owner to approve, I never post in a way that pretends to be a customer, and I do not ask for reviews in a way that breaks Google's rules. Reviews are not something I can manufacture, and I will not try.

A reply is read by the next person who looks at the profile. I answer each review with the service named, a plain thank you or a plain fix, and I never argue a point in public. Replies are drafted in the owner's voice and approved before they post.

Work I built, live where you can check it

Every build below is real and every link goes to the live work. Two of the five are full websites I built and still run. The other three are brand and content work, two of them for sites that are in build now, and each card says which.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

From what I've seen, Justin knows the AI automation space better than most people I've come across in Las Vegas. He's the kind of person who actually understands the technical side and can explain it without making you feel lost. Good guy, good reputation.

I've Known Justin for a while now and he really knows his stuff when it comes to AI consulting. If people in Las Vegas were to ask me for recommendations in this space, he's the best guy for the job, hands down.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Known Justin for a few years now. Guy knows the AI space better than most people I've come across, especially here in Las Vegas where there's no shortage of people claiming to be experts. Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Google Business Profile Setup Steps

Five steps, each with a file you can open

The profile work follows the same order every time, and each step ends with a record you can open. Nothing changes in the live listing until the field check is approved.

1. Confirm ownership

I confirm the owner account and the managers, so that every person with access is known and expected.

2. Check the core details

Business name, address or service area, phone and website are compared against the site and your records.

3. Set categories and services

The primary category, secondary categories and service list are set and explained in the log.

4. Refresh photos and hours

Current photos are uploaded with dates, and the hours are checked against the holiday calendar.

5. Review monthly

Each month I check suggested edits, new reviews and any changes the dashboard shows, and send a short note.

Local Signals and Website Alignment

A profile that matches the site

A profile does the most work when it agrees with the website. The category, the services, the service area and the phone number should match what the site says on its service pages, and the links should land on the page that explains the service.

When the two disagree, the buyer notices first. I check the site and the profile side by side and fix the one that is wrong, which is often the profile.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone

Service Area Businesses

Listing a service area, not a street address

Some Valley businesses go to the customer rather than the other way round. For those, the profile can hide the street address and list the areas served instead. The choice is a real trade-off, and it depends on whether the public address is needed for trust.

I set the service area to what you truly cover, and I say which areas are a drive rather than a regular route.

A business that goes to the customer needs the service area set on purpose. I list the cities and ZIP codes it actually serves, keep the address hidden if the owner works from home, and check that the area matches the pages on the website so the two sources do not disagree.

Google Business Profile Optimization Cost

What moves the scope

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have seen the listing. A single location with a clean profile is a different job from several locations with duplicate listings and years of suggested edits.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • How many locations or service areas the listing covers
  • Whether duplicate or closed listings need cleanup
  • How many photos and services need writing and upload
  • How often the owner wants a monthly edit log
  • Whether the website pages need matching changes

Google Business Profile near Me

In person or over a call

I work from Las Vegas and meet clients at their location across the Valley when that helps. Most profile work is done inside the dashboard, so a call and a shared screen cover much of it, and the edit log comes with you either way.

WebVegas homepage, a website I built

What I Will Not Promise

No map position guaranteed

I cannot promise a position on the map, a rank for any search term or a set number of calls. Google decides what it shows, and no one who tells you otherwise has the control to back it up.

What I commit to is an accurate listing, a written edit log and a monthly note on what changed.

An owner at work in a modern office

Affordable Google Business Profile Optimization

What a fair scope includes

A lower quote only means something when the scope matches. Ask every provider, me included, which fields they will check, who will hold the owner access and what the monthly note contains.

A quote that does not name the edit log is not finished, because the log is how you will know who changed what later.
