Menu Design Las Vegas

A Menu Guests Can Read

Menu design in Las Vegas, done by one designer who lays out the menu, matches it to the website and hands you every file. You get the editable source, a print-ready file and a web version, so a price change never means starting the design over.

Restaurant Menu Design

What a menu has to do

A guest reads a menu in a few seconds, usually standing at the host stand or holding a phone in one hand. In that time the menu has to show the sections, set the price of each item and point to the dish the house wants sold. When the layout is crowded or the type is too small, the guest orders the safest item on the page, and the kitchen loses the dish it was proud of.

The menu also does work for the owner. It carries the restaurant's voice, and it is the one printed piece that changes most often. A menu built on one flat file turns every price change into a new design job and a reprint that costs more than the change itself.

What I design

Most restaurants that come to me need one of the pieces below, and many need two or three of them built from the same brand file. Each card is a piece I design, and the restaurant website design page explains how the digital menu fits a site.

Dining room menus

One-page and multi-page menus laid out for the way a guest scans a table, with sections in the order the kitchen wants them read.

Bar and drink menus

Cocktail, wine and beer lists set in the same type as the food menu, with space left for the seasonal changes.

Digital menus

Web and phone versions of the printed menu, built to load quickly on a cell signal and sized for a thumb.

Table tents and takeout

Smaller pieces that carry one promotion or the delivery link, cut from the same master file as the menu.

Menu boards

Large-format boards for a counter or wall, built from the same item list so a price change happens once.

Print and digital pairs

The printed menu and its web version come from one source file, so the two never disagree on a price.

Who Menu Design Is For

Restaurants with a changing list

The menu fits a restaurant whose list changes with the season, a kitchen that rotates specials every week, or an owner who pays a printer every time a price moves. It also fits a new restaurant that needs one design for the dining room, the bar and the website, so the three look like the same place.

It is a poor fit for a restaurant that wants a menu designed once and never touched. I will say so on the first call, because a menu nobody can edit is a cost the owner pays later.

Work I built, live where you can check it

None of the five builds below is a restaurant menu, and I will not show you one I did not make. What they do show is the method I use on a menu: one brand file, a layout that reads at a glance, and every file handed over. Each card says whether the work is live or still in build.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

How I work with a restaurant

  1. Step 01

    Brief

I walk the current menu with the owner or chef: every section, the items that change, the print runs and where the menu will be seen.

  2. Step 02

    One layout

I send one full layout to approve, not a set of options to choose from, and I say what I changed and why.

  3. Step 03

    Refine

One round of changes on the layout, with each correction tied to a line of the brief so nothing drifts.

  4. Step 04

    Print and web files

The print-ready file for each size and the web version, both cut from the same source document.

  5. Step 05

    Handover

The editable source, the usage sheet and a short walkthrough so your team can change a price without calling me.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Print and Digital Menu Design

One source file for both

Printed menus and web menus go wrong in the same place. Someone changes a price in the file for the printer and forgets the file for the website, and a guest sees one number on the table and another on the phone. The fix is structural, not a matter of care: the printed and digital versions are generated from one document, so a change made once shows up in both.

I build the source document around the items, not around the page. Each dish has a name, a description and a price, and the layout pulls those fields in. A new item goes in once, and both versions pick it up.

Menu Design Cost Las Vegas

What moves the cost

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have seen the menu, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. A multi-page dinner menu and a single drink card are different jobs, and a price list would be wrong for both. These are the things that move the cost, so you can judge any quote, mine included.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • How many pages, sections and item descriptions the menu carries
  • Print sizes and runs: a one-time print, a regular reprint, or a large-format board
  • Whether the menu needs photography or illustration
  • A web version, and any link to online ordering
  • How many rounds of changes come after the first layout

Readable Menu Layout

How I lay out a menu

I set item names in a size a guest can read at arm's length, and I keep each description short enough that a line never wraps into the next item. Section headings get enough space above them to be found by a glance, and the prices sit on one shared edge so they are easy to compare down the page.

Color comes last. Dark type on a light ground reads best in a dim room, so any brand color has to pass that test before it goes on a menu. I check each layout on a phone as well as on paper, because the digital version is what many guests see first.

Menu Design Pricing Options

What the owner keeps

A menu designer should leave you with the files, not only a printed proof. These are the items you keep at the end of every menu project, whatever the scope.

  1. Step 01

    The editable source file

The document the menu is built in, so a price or a dish can be changed without a new design.

  2. Step 02

A print-ready file for each size

Each printed size, set up for the printer you choose, with the bleed and the crop marks already in place.

  3. Step 03

    The web version

The digital menu in a form that loads on a phone, with the same items and prices as the printed version.

  4. Step 04

    A usage sheet

The fonts, colors and their values, so a printer, a sign shop or a new designer can match the menu.

Menu Designer Las Vegas

One person designs the menu

I am Justin Harris. I have built websites and run digital marketing for Las Vegas businesses for fourteen years, and I still do the design work myself. When you hire me you talk to the person laying out the menu, with no hand-off to a junior designer in between.

The same person who designs the menu also builds the restaurant's website, when there is one, so the two match without a meeting to make them match.
