Packaging Design Las Vegas

Packaging Checked Before Print

Packaging design in Las Vegas, built around the dieline, the material and the label text before anything is printed. I design the box, bag or label to the press specification and hand you the files a converter needs.

What packaging has to do

A package does its selling in the second it takes to pick up, and then it has to survive shipping, shelves and a customer who opens it in a hurry. The front panel carries the name and the one claim the product can prove. The back panel carries the facts a store or a regulator will check, and the structure has to hold the product without a mess.

Most packaging trouble starts before the artwork. A dieline drawn for the wrong box, a label that is one line too long for its panel, or a material that does not take the ink as the screen showed. Those are fixable on paper and expensive on a press.

Custom Packaging Design Las Vegas

What I design

Packaging comes in a few families, and each one is set up around a different dieline and material. Each card below is a family I design for, with the structure confirmed before the artwork begins.

Folding cartons

Retail boxes and carton sleeves with the panels, glue flaps and tuck ends drawn to the converter's dieline.

Labels and wraps

Front and back labels sized to the container, with the ingredient or product text set to its required size.

Bags and pouches

Printed bags and pouches with the seal areas and the zip or tear features placed clear of the artwork.

Mailer and shipping boxes

Shipping packaging designed for the box size and the printing method the box maker uses.

Product inserts and tags

Inserts and hang tags cut from the same brand file as the box, so the product reads as one set.

Dielines and print files

The final dieline, print-ready artwork and color values packaged for the converter you choose.

Who Packaging Design Is For

Makers with a product to ship

Packaging fits a maker, a food or wellness brand, or a company that sells goods through stores and online orders. It also fits an owner whose product is sold on a shelf next to better-known brands and whose box has to say what it is in a glance.

It is a poor fit for a single label you print yourself on an office printer. That job needs a template and a checklist, not a full packaging project, and I will say so on the first call.

Brand work I built, and where it stands

None of the five builds below is a printed box, and I will not show a package I did not make. The brand work does show the part of packaging that comes first: one identity, one set of colors and a logo that holds at small sizes. Each card says whether the work is live or still in build.

Packaging Design Process

How a box goes to print

  1. Step 01

    Get the structure

I collect the product size, weight, the converter and the shipping method before any artwork is drawn.

  2. Step 02

    Draw the dieline

The panels, folds, glue areas and cut lines drawn to the converter's template, and checked against a sample of the product.

  3. Step 03

    Place the copy

The name, claim, required text and barcode placed on the panels, with each required line confirmed by the owner.

  4. Step 04

    Test on a mockup

A printed or rendered mockup folded and checked, so the front, sides and back are seen as they will be on the shelf.

  5. Step 05

    Release the files

The dieline, print files and color values sent to the converter with a short note on the material and finish.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Packaging Design Cost Las Vegas

What moves the cost

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after the structure is confirmed, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. A new custom box with a new dieline and a label set for one flavor are different jobs, and a price list would be wrong for both.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone
  • Whether the dieline is new, adapted from a stock box or matched to an existing one
  • The number of product variants that share one structure
  • Regulatory copy the package must carry, and who approves it
  • Material, finish and any special coating or window
  • Prototype rounds before the first print run

Packaging Materials

How material changes the design

The material decides what the design can do. Kraft board takes a warm, plain print well, while a coated white board holds fine type and bright color. Clear film and window cutouts need a different layout because the product is part of the design.

I ask the converter for a material sample early, and I check the color on that sample, not on the screen. A finish such as a matte laminate changes the color again, so the approved color is the one printed on the stock that will ship.

GIOSTAR homepage, a website I built

Label Text Rules

What the label has to say

Some label text is required by law and some is only good practice. The required text has a fixed size, position and contrast, and a design that squeezes it into a corner fails the review before it fails the shelf. I list each required line on the brief and place it first, before the brand copy is set.

I do not give legal advice on what a label must say. The owner or the product's regulator confirms the required text, and I lay it out so it is easy to read and easy to check against that list.

Packaging Files and Ownership

Files you keep after launch

A package is reordered for years, so the dieline and the artwork matter as much as the first run. You get the dieline, the editable artwork, the print-ready files and the color values, all kept in an account you can open. A new flavor or size should be a variant of the file, not a new design.

Your converter can run the job from the file set alone. I write the handover so the next designer, or the next printer, can pick the job up without a call to me.

Packaging Designer Las Vegas

One person checks the dieline

I am Justin Harris. I have built websites and run digital marketing for Las Vegas businesses for fourteen years, and I still check each dieline and label myself. When you hire me you talk to the person drawing the box, with no hand-off to a junior designer before the proof.

The brand on the box is the same brand file the website uses, so a shopper who finds the product online and then picks it up sees the same name, colors and logo.
