Shopify SEO

What a store needs for search

A Shopify store is built to sell, and it does that well. Search is a separate job. Google has to find each product, understand what it is, decide which of several addresses for it to show and load the page quickly enough that a shopper on a phone does not leave.

Shopify SEO is the work of making those four things true on a store that was built for checkout. It is less about adding keywords and more about removing the things that get in the way.

An owner at work in a modern office

Shopify Duplicate Addresses

One product, more than one address

Some store platforms reach the same product through more than one web address, and a collection path can be one of them. When the addresses show the same page, Google has to choose which one to show, and its guidance says that if no canonical version is set, Google picks the version it considers best.

I check which addresses a product can be reached by, set the canonical version on purpose and make sure the internal links point to that version. The change is small, and it stops search from splitting one product across several pages.

Shopify Collection Pages

Where category traffic lands

Collection pages are the category pages of a store, and for many shops they are where the search traffic lands first, before the buyer picks a product. A collection with a thin description and a list of products nobody has named gives Google very little to read.

I write the collection titles and descriptions around the question the shopper is asking, add a short block of useful text above the product grid, and link each collection to the products and guides that belong with it.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone
  • A title that names the product type and the buyer question
  • A short description above the grid, written for a person
  • Links from the collection to its best products and guides
  • Sorting and filter options checked so they do not create extra pages
  • Empty or retired collections removed or redirected

Shopify Product Variants

Colors, sizes and the pages they create

Variants are the options on a product, such as color, size or material. Some store setups turn each option into its own address, which means one product can appear as a dozen near-identical pages, each with the same description.

I check how variants are set up, decide which ones deserve their own page because people search for them, and keep the rest as options on the main product. The result is fewer pages that say the same thing, and the strongest page for each product is the one the buyer finds.

Shopify App Speed

What apps add to every page

Shopify apps add features like reviews, upsells, pop-ups and tracking, and each one can add scripts to every page of the store. On a phone, a store can be carrying the weight of six or eight apps before the product image appears.

I measure load speed on a mobile connection, list which apps add code to which pages, and recommend removing or limiting the ones that do not earn their place. Where an app is needed, I check that it loads without blocking the page.

Shopify Theme Limits

What the theme lets me change

Themes control much of how a store's pages are built. Some SEO changes are available in the theme settings, some need the theme code changed, and some are locked behind the platform itself. Knowing which is which keeps the scope honest.

Before I promise a fix, I check whether it can be made inside the theme. If it cannot, the scope says so, and the change is written as a request to whoever maintains the code, with the reason.

Shopify Product Details for Search

Product facts Google can read

Product pages can carry structured data, which is a set of labels for the name, price, availability and reviews of a product. Google uses those labels to understand the page, and the labels are only useful when they match what the page shows.

I check that the product data is complete and matches the page, remove any label that claims something the page does not show, and make sure the product titles and descriptions say what the item is in plain words.

Shopify Blog and Buying Guides

Guides that answer before the sale

Shoppers often search a question before they search a product: which size to buy, how to care for a material, what to look for in a particular item. A short guide that answers the question can bring a buyer in and link them to the right collection.

I write guides for the questions a store's own customers ask, keep each one tied to a collection or product, and avoid pages that exist only to hold keywords.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

Shopify Store Measurement

Knowing which pages bring the orders

A store report is only useful when it can be tied to the pages that drive sales. Analytics can show visits by collection and product, and a checkout tracking setup can show which pages come before a completed order. If the setup is missing or broken, the report shows traffic and nothing about the money behind it.

I check the tracking before the first change goes live, so the baseline is honest. The monthly note then compares the same collections and products over the same periods, and it says plainly when a change has not yet shown up in the numbers. Where the store's theme or an app does not expose the numbers, the report names the gap rather than filling it with an estimate.

Best Shopify SEO Services

What good looks like for a store

A good Shopify SEO service is one that can name each problem on the store, show the page where it sits and explain the fix in plain words. It works within the theme and the apps you already run, or it says clearly which change needs a developer.

It also reports on the store in a way you can check. A report that shows traffic and no product or collection detail does not tell you what changed.

Shopify SEO Process

Five steps, each with a file you can open

Every store engagement follows the same order, and each step ends with a record. No change goes live until the fix list is approved.

1. Crawl the store

I crawl the collections, products and variants to find duplicate addresses, broken links and thin pages.

2. Measure speed and apps

Mobile load speed is measured, and each app is listed with the pages it adds code to.

3. Agree the fix list

Each fix names the page, the reason and whether it fits inside the theme. You approve the list first.

4. Make and test the changes

Titles, collection copy, canonicals and redirects are changed, then the pages are checked on phones.

5. Report monthly

A plain note shows what changed, the pages that moved and what I plan to fix next.

Shopify SEO Services Cost

What moves the scope

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I have crawled the store. A shop with twenty products and a simple theme is a different job from a store with thousands of variants and a stack of apps, so a price list would be wrong for at least one of them.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • How many products, collections and variants the store has
  • How many apps add code to the pages, and which ones can go
  • Whether the theme can take the changes or needs a developer
  • How many redirects are needed after a restructure
  • How often you want a written report and a call

Affordable Shopify SEO Services

What a fair scope includes

A lower quote only matters when the scope is the same. Ask every provider, me included, how many collections and products they will review, whether they will measure speed and apps, and how the changes will be logged.

A scope that promises a set number of keywords and never names a product page is not a scope you can check.

Shopify SEO near Me

In person or over a call

I work from Las Vegas and meet store owners across the Valley when that helps. Most store work happens inside the admin and the theme, so a shared screen and a call cover a large part of the first month. The scope is the same either way.

I also open the store on a phone first, because that is where most shoppers will meet it. I time the home page, a collection page and a product page, note which app or oversized image slows each one, and put the result in the written read next to the fix.

An owner at work in a modern office

What I Will Not Promise

No ranking guaranteed

I cannot promise a first-page position for any product or keyword. Google's SEO starter guide says there are no secrets that will automatically rank a site first, and search results change over time.

What I commit to is the crawl, the fix list, the changes logged in your store and a monthly report that names the pages.
