Android App Development Las Vegas

Android apps tested on real phones

Android app development Las Vegas businesses rely on starts with the phones their customers actually carry. I build for Google Play and test across a range of Android screen sizes before any release.

Android App Development

What an Android build includes

An Android app is written for the platform Google provides, and it runs across many phone makers, screen sizes and Android versions. The build covers the screens, the back end they read from, the device tests and the package that goes to Google Play. Each part is written into the scope before work starts.

Android features such as notifications, the camera, location and background sync each need a clear permission and a clear reason. Those reasons are part of the scope, because Google Play asks for them during review and customers read them before they tap allow.

Android Device Testing

A test matrix, not one test phone

The main risk with an Android app is fragmentation. A screen that looks right on one phone can clip a button on another, a back gesture can drop a customer out of a form, and an older Android version can handle a background task differently. One test phone hides all of that.

I test against a matrix of device classes, and I write the matrix into the scope. Each row names a phone size, an Android version and a condition such as low memory or a weak connection. Each result goes into the same list, so you can see what passed on which device.

Device Test Matrix

The device classes every build is tested on

The matrix changes with the app, but every Android build covers these classes before submission.
Device classWhat I testWhy it mattersWho signs it off
Small phoneEvery screen, every button and the keyboardText and buttons are most likely to clip on a narrow screenMe, with the result in the shared list
Large phoneLayout stretch, the navigation bar and the one-hand reachWide screens can leave a primary button out of thumb rangeMe, with the result in the shared list
Older Android versionPermissions, notifications and background tasksBehavior changes between Android versions, and customers keep older phonesMe, checked with you before release
Low memory or weak signalA form submitted halfway, then retriedA lost connection should never lose a customer's entryMe, with the failure path written in the scope

Work I built, live where you can check it

Every build below is real, and every link goes to the live work or its case study. Two of the five are full websites I built and still run, and the other three are brand and content work. The app builds sit in the proof band on the app hub, each with its live link.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

Android App Developer

Who needs an Android build

Four kinds of owner come to an Android build. Each one brings a different first version and a different list of devices to test.

A consumer product

A founder whose customers use Android phones and who needs sign-up and the first purchase to work on the first try.

A field team

A business whose staff carry Android devices and need checklists, photos or sign-off that still works when the signal drops.

A service business

A practice or local company that wants intake, booking and reminders on the customer's own phone, with the data landing where staff can see it.

A web app with a phone version

A business with a working web tool that wants the same tasks on Android, with the data shared with the existing system.

Google Play Release Readiness

Getting through Google Play review

Google Play reviews each new release and asks for the store listing, a data safety form that matches what the app collects, a content rating and the permissions each feature needs. A release that is missing one of those items stops at review, and the fix takes a new round.

I prepare each item before submission and check it against the live build. The listing copy, screenshots and privacy answers are written with you, so the reviewer sees the app the way a customer will use it.

How Much Android App Development Costs

What moves the price of an Android build

I quote a fixed price for a written scope, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. The biggest factors are the number of screens, the device classes in the matrix, the permissions the app asks for and the systems it connects to.

Google charges a one-time developer registration fee that you pay directly to Google, and the scope lists it separately from my quote. Before the scope exists, any single number would be a guess, so I write the scope first and then price it line by line.

Android App Development Process

Four steps from scope to Google Play

Each step ends with a result you can open or approve. Testing gets its own step, so the device matrix is never skipped to save time at the end.

  1. Step 01

    Scope the first version

I list the three core tasks, the screens they need and the permissions each screen asks for, then you approve the list in writing.

  2. Step 02

    Design and prototype

I build a clickable version for your phone, so you can walk through each task before any build work begins.

  3. Step 03

Build and test on the matrix

I build the app, then run each task on the device classes in the matrix and record the result, pass or fail, for you to read.

  4. Step 04

    Submit and answer review

I prepare the Play submission, send it, and answer any review question on the day it arrives.

Choosing an Android Developer

What to ask before you sign

Ask which phones the developer tests on, and whether the list is written into the scope. Ask who submits the app and who answers Google if it is rejected. Ask whether the developer account is in your name and who else has access. A specific answer is written down, and a vague one usually means device problems show up after launch.

Ask for finished work you can open on an Android phone. Ask how a lost connection is handled during a form, since that is where customers are lost most often.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.
