MVP Development Problems

Runway burned on features nobody asked for

A founder hires a team to build the product. The list grows: accounts, dashboards, notifications, a mobile version. Months pass and money goes out. When the product launches, users ignore half the features and ask for something nobody built. The founder cannot say which feature mattered, because everything shipped at once.

The founder also cannot see inside the build. Status calls replace evidence, the code sits in the vendor's account and nobody can say what the money produced. A first version should teach something. Too often it only costs something.

MVP Development Company

One person scopes, builds and reports

I am Justin Harris. I have worked in Las Vegas digital marketing for fourteen years, built for more than 300 Valley businesses and I am rated five stars on Google. I do the work myself. You talk to the person writing the code, and you can see what is built at every step.

An MVP with me starts with one question: what is the riskiest assumption in the plan? The first version is built to test that assumption cheaply, and a plain report afterward says what users did.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone
  • Code, hosting and accounts in your name
  • A written scope: what is in version one and what waits
  • A working link after every step
  • A plain report on what users did

MVP Development Portfolio

Work I built, live where you can check it

The portfolio shows two full websites I built and run, plus brand work and Quotible, a social content system. It does not show a startup product I built, and I say so plainly. This page describes how I approach MVP work and what you would receive at each step: the written scope, the staging links, the user report and the handover, all in plain language and all in accounts you own.
Three Quotible social posts built from customer testimonials

Social content system

Quotible: a testimonial-led social series

For Quotible I built a social content system that turns real customer testimonials into on-brand posts and carousels.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

From what I've seen, Justin knows the AI automation space better than most people I've come across in Las Vegas. He's the kind of person who actually understands the technical side and can explain it without making you feel lost. Good guy, good reputation.

I've Known Justin for a while now and he really knows his stuff when it comes to AI consulting. If people in Las Vegas were to ask me for recommendations in this space, he's the best guy for the job, hands down.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Known Justin for a few years now. Guy knows the AI space better than most people I've come across, especially here in Las Vegas where there's no shortage of people claiming to be experts. He actually understands how AI automation works at a practical level, not just the theory. The kind of person who gives you a straight answer with kindness and patience

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

MVP Development Services

What I build

Each item ends in something real people can try.

A scoped first version

One core job done end to end, with everything else listed for later and a reason beside each item.

Clickable prototypes

Screens users try before any code is written, so confusion shows up while changes are cheap.

A working app

The first version built and live in accounts you own, with users, data and backups handled properly.

A landing page

A page that explains the promise and collects early interest or bookings, measured on its own.

Tracking

Records of what users did, so the launch teaches you something instead of just happening.

A next-steps list

What to build next, ranked by what users showed you, with a plain note on what to stop.

What Goes in Version One

What goes in v1 and what waits

This is the scoping conversation that matters most.

In: the core job

The one thing a user comes to do, done end to end and working properly, not roughly.

In: sign-in, if needed

Only when the job requires an account. Many first versions work with an email address alone.

In: one way to commit

A payment, a booking or a sign-up, if money or commitment is part of what you are testing.

Waits: extra user types

Admin panels, second roles and approval layers, until the first role is proven.

Waits: polish

Animations, themes and settings that do not help test the central assumption.

Waits: integrations

Anything a spreadsheet or a manual step can stand in for during the test.

MVP Development Framework

The steps I follow

Each step ends in something you can read or click.

  1. Step 01

    State the bet

One sentence on who the product is for and what they will do, written by you and tightened by me.

  2. Step 02

    Find the risk

The assumption most likely to be wrong. If it fails, the product fails, so it gets tested first.

  3. Step 03

    Scope the test

The smallest build that tests the risk, written on one page with a launch date.

  4. Step 04

    Build in steps

A staging link after each piece, so you can see progress and correct course early.

  5. Step 05

    Launch to a few

A small group of real users who match the product's audience, not friends being polite.

  6. Step 06

    Read and decide

Continue, change direction or stop, with the evidence written down beside each choice.

Prototype, pilot or full MVP

MVP Mistakes

Six ways an MVP goes wrong

These are common and avoidable.

Building everything

The MVP stops being minimal and takes the whole budget before anything is learned.

No clear bet

Nobody knows what the test is meant to show, so every result can be explained away.

Skipping real users

The team tests with itself and finds the product easy, because the team knows how it works.

Ignoring security

Early users still trust you with their email, passwords and sometimes payments.

No tracking

Nobody can say what users did, so the next decision is a guess dressed as strategy.

No decision rule

Nobody agrees in advance what counts as success, so a weak result gets called a good start.

MVP Development Cost

What moves the price

I quote a fixed price for a written scope. These are the drivers, and what each does to the scope.

MVP Development Near Me

Where I work

I am based in Las Vegas and meet founders across the Valley, in Henderson, Summerlin and North Las Vegas. MVP work is mostly remote, so I also work with founders elsewhere, with a staging link after each step. For how I approach whole websites, see web design in Las Vegas.
