Web Application Development Problems

An app whose cost kept moving

A founder or operations lead asks for a tool: a portal, a dashboard, a scheduling system, an internal workflow. The first quote looks reasonable. Then every month brings a new request, a delay and a revised number, and nobody can say how close the app is to done. The owner has no way to see progress except the developer's word.

When the build ends, the code often belongs to one person. There are no notes and no tests, and the server runs on an account the developer opened in their own name. A year later a new developer quotes a rewrite, since reading the old code costs more than starting again. The owner paid for software and received a dependency.

Web Application Development Services

One person builds in small visible steps

I am Justin Harris. I have worked in Las Vegas digital marketing for fourteen years, built for more than 300 Valley businesses and I am rated five stars on Google. I do the building myself, so you talk to the person writing the code.

Every step ends with something you can click on a staging site, and progress is never a status call. The code, hosting and every account are in your name, the scope is one written page and the notes are written for the next developer.

Web App Development Portfolio

Work I built, live where you can check it

The portfolio shows two full websites I built and run, GIOSTAR with booking, financing and lead tracking, and WebVegas with a four-step booking form, plus brand and content work. It does not show a client application, and I say so plainly. This page describes how I approach app work, what the written scope, the test log and the handover contain, and what you would receive at each step, so you can judge the method even though the portfolio cannot show a client application.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Web Application Development Weekly Progress

What you see as the app is built

Progress is shown, not described.

A staging link

A private working version you can click, updated as each piece finishes, so you see real progress.

A written change list

What was built, what changed and why, in plain language you can read in two minutes.

A test log

Which paths were tested and what happened on each, including the ones that failed.

The scope page

Updated whenever anything changes, with the effect on date and price written beside it.

A short walkthrough

A recorded or live tour of what is new, so you can respond without reading anything technical.

A risk note

Anything I am worried about, stated early, so a problem is never a surprise at the end.

Web App Development Process

How an app project runs

The launch date is written into the scope before work starts.

  1. Step 01

    Understand the job

I ask who uses the app and what goes wrong today. You get my summary in writing so a misunderstanding shows early.

  2. Step 02

    Write the scope

One page: what is built, what waits, what the app connects to and the launch date. You approve it first.

  3. Step 03

    Design the flows

Rough screens and paths, tried by a real user before any code is written.

  4. Step 04

    Build in steps

Each step goes on a staging link for you to click, and the scope page is updated.

  5. Step 05

    Test and harden

Working and failing paths, permissions, backups and speed with realistic data.

  6. Step 06

    Launch and hand over

Live release, repository access, a plain-language document and a walkthrough.

Web App Vendor Red Flags

Six warning signs when hiring

Whoever you hire, watch for these.

A price before a scope

It is a guess dressed as a quote, and the real number arrives later.

Code in their account

You will not be able to leave without starting again, whatever the contract says.

No staging link

Progress cannot be checked, so you pay for work you cannot see.

No tests

Nobody knows what breaks when something changes, including the developer.

No notes

Nobody else can take over, so you depend on one person's memory.

A vague timeline

Dates with no reasons will move, and you will find out when they do.

Web App Development Near Me

Where I work

I am based in Las Vegas and meet clients across the Valley, at their office or over a call. App work is mostly online, so I also build for clients elsewhere, with a staging link after each step and a shared task list you can read at any time. For how I approach whole websites, see web design in Las Vegas.

Distance changes nothing about what you can check: the written scope, the test log, the task list and the monthly report are the same for a client across the street and a client across the country, and each is written in plain language.
