Explainer Video Production
The script comes first
I do explainer video production for founders and small teams in Las Vegas. Every video starts with a written script that explains the product in plain words, and the animation is built only after that script is approved.

Why explainer videos confuse more than they sell
Animation before the story is set
Most explainer videos fail before the first frame is drawn. The founder describes the product in the words of the engineers who built it, a studio turns that into a bright set of shapes, and the finished video explains everything except what the buyer needs to know.
The fix is not a better animator. It is a script that a buyer could repeat back after one viewing, checked by the person who knows the product, before anyone spends a week on motion. Without that check the video looks finished and still does not sell.

How explainer video production starts with a script
A plan the founder signs before animation
I start with an interview of about an hour with the founder or the product lead. I ask what a customer gets wrong, what they compare the product to and what they should do after watching. The answers become a one-page brief with a single job for the video.
From the brief I write the script in short scenes, each with one idea and one picture. You read the whole script once and mark what is wrong. The animation starts only when the script is signed, which keeps the expensive part of the work out of the revision loop.

What an explainer video package includes
Six parts of every video
Each part is written into the scope before work starts. Each card links to the page for the service that sits beside it.
Script and storyboard
A short script in scenes, with a storyboard frame for each one, approved before any animation begins.
Read more →Voiceover
A recorded narration in a voice that fits the brand, with pacing marked against the script.
Read more →Animation and motion graphics
Scenes built from the brand's own colors, type and logo, with motion that explains one idea at a time.
Read more →Captions and cut-downs
A full version plus shorter cuts for social and ads, with captions for sound-off viewing.
Read more →Web-ready exports
Files sized to load quickly on a phone and sit on a homepage without slowing the page.
Read more →Brand kit application
The explainer uses the same palette, type and logo rules as the rest of the brand, so it reads as one company.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Who explainer videos are for
Founders with a product that is hard to picture
Founders of software, medical devices, professional services and B2B tools are the usual buyers. Their product is hard to show in a photo, and a sales call takes too long to explain it. A two-minute video that walks one customer through the problem and the fix can carry that job.
I am not the right fit for a single-scene logo animation or a video that exists only to fill a slot on a website. A simple promo can be cut from existing footage, and I will say so on the first call instead of selling an animation the page does not need.

How much does an explainer video cost
Length, scenes and revisions set the price
I quote a fixed price for a written scope after the founder interview. A sixty-second video with five scenes and a finished script is a different job from a three-minute video with twenty scenes and a new character, so one flat rate would be wrong for at least one of them. These are the things that move the number.

- Length of the final video and number of scenes
- Whether the script is written by me or supplied by you
- Custom characters versus a set of existing shapes
- Voiceover recording and the number of language versions
- Number of revision rounds written into the scope
How long does explainer video production take
The script sets the calendar
A typical explainer runs on three stages: the script, the storyboard and the animation. Most of the calendar is spent on the script review, because a change at that stage costs an hour and a change in the animation costs days. The date for each stage is written into the scope before work starts.
If the founder is slow to review, the date moves on the same page, with the reason written beside it. A delay on your side is never counted against the animation schedule, so the final date stays honest.

Explainer video production process step by step
Five steps, each with a file to approve
- Step 01
Interview the founder
About an hour on the product, the buyer and the one action the video must earn. The output is a one-page brief.
- Step 02
Write the script
Short scenes with one idea each. You read the whole script once and mark what is wrong, then it is locked.
- Step 03
Storyboard the scenes
A frame for each scene showing the picture, the words on screen and the timing, approved before motion starts.
- Step 04
Animate and voice
Scenes built to the storyboard, with the voiceover recorded against the locked script.
- Step 05
Test and export
A test with someone who has not seen the product, then final exports, captions and cut-downs.

Who owns the animation files
Source files stay with the business
You own the final video, the script, the storyboard and the source project. They are handed over in one folder when the job closes, with a list of every font, music track and stock asset that went into the cut, so you can reuse or update the video later without calling me.
Fonts, music and stock footage come from sources you have the rights to use, and I flag anything that needs a license before it goes into a scene. This is production guidance, not legal advice, so any contract with usage terms should go past your own attorney.
