Ghost Developer Las Vegas

A publication you own and can check

As a Ghost developer in Las Vegas, I set up Ghost sites for Valley firms and practices myself: the theme, memberships and newsletter, with the account and domain in the owner's name.

A Ghost site with no publishing plan

Ghost is a publishing platform. It is built around posts, newsletters and memberships, and it does those jobs with less clutter than most content systems. A practice or firm that picks Ghost usually does so for a good reason: it wants a blog and a newsletter that feel like a publication and load fast. The trouble starts after the theme is installed.

Someone sets up the site, writes three posts and stops. Nobody decided who the posts are for, how a reader becomes a subscriber, or what a subscriber is supposed to do next. The site has a membership button that connects to nothing and a newsletter nobody has sent.

Who Owns My Ghost Site?

Who holds the only login

A year later the owner asks what the publication has produced and there is no answer to give. A second problem sits underneath. Ghost can be hosted by the Ghost foundation or on a server of your own, and the person who set it up often holds the only login to either. The site works until that person is unavailable.

One person sets up the site and the plan

I am Justin Harris. I have worked in Las Vegas digital marketing for fourteen years and I build the site myself. On a Ghost project that means I write the theme changes, set up the memberships and newsletter, and connect the tracking, then show you a report you can check against your own accounts.

You own the publication. The Ghost account or server is in your name, the domain is yours, and I hand over every login on the first day. I also write down what each setting does, because Ghost's admin screen is simple and the consequences of a wrong toggle are not.

Work I built, live where you can check it

Two of the five builds are full websites I built and still run, GIOSTAR including a blog. None is a Ghost site, and I do not claim one. The cards show how I scope and report.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

From what I've seen, Justin knows the AI automation space better than most people I've come across in Las Vegas. He's the kind of person who actually understands the technical side and can explain it without making you feel lost. Good guy, good reputation.

I've Known Justin for a while now and he really knows his stuff when it comes to AI consulting. If people in Las Vegas were to ask me for recommendations in this space, he's the best guy for the job, hands down.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Known Justin for a few years now. Guy knows the AI space better than most people I've come across, especially here in Las Vegas where there's no shortage of people claiming to be experts. He actually understands how AI automation works at a practical level, not just the theory. The kind of person who gives you a straight answer with kindness and patience

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Ghost Developer

What I build on Ghost

Ghost projects fall into six jobs. Each ends in something you can open and read.

A theme made for the firm

Ghost themes are written in Handlebars. I adapt or build one from your brand so the site looks like the firm and not a stock theme.

Memberships and paid tiers

Free and paid members, with Stripe connected under your own Stripe account so payouts go straight to you.

Newsletter setup

Sending domain, signup forms, welcome email and a first send, checked by subscribing as a stranger would.

Content structure

Tags, authors, pages and navigation planned before the first post goes live, so the archive stays tidy as it grows.

Integrations

Analytics, booking links, a CRM or a Zapier hook where one is needed. Custom code is covered under web development.

Moving to Ghost

Posts, images and URLs moved from WordPress or another system with redirects, so readers and search engines find the new pages.

What to Publish on a Ghost Blog

What I set up before a first post

Many Ghost sites fail for want of a plan, so I set the plan down in writing before the theme is touched. It is short and it answers four questions.

A business owner reviewing work on a phone
  • Who the publication is for, in one sentence a reader would recognize
  • What a reader is invited to do after each post: subscribe, book or call
  • Which content is free and which, if any, sits behind a membership
  • Who writes, who approves and how often something goes out
  • What number in your own accounts tells you it is working

Ghost vs WordPress

When Ghost fits and when Ghost is wrong

I will tell you honestly if Ghost is the wrong tool. It is a strong choice for a publication, and a weaker one for a site that needs many unrelated page types.
GhostWordPressA plain website builder
Best forPosts, newsletters, membershipsAlmost anything, with pluginsA few static pages
EditingA clean writer-first editorFlexible, can sprawlDrag and drop

How Long Does Ghost Development Take?

How a build runs

Every Ghost project runs five steps, and each ends with something you can open.

  1. Step 01

    Decide what it publishes

The four-question plan above, agreed before any design.

  2. Step 02

    Write the scope

Theme, memberships, newsletter, integrations and a date on one page.

  3. Step 03

    Design the theme

The key templates drawn as real pages you review in a browser.

  4. Step 04

    Build and test

Memberships, a test payment, newsletter delivery, speed and accessibility checked before launch.

  5. Step 05

    Launch and report

Redirects from the old site, an editor walkthrough and a monthly report on visits, signups and the posts that earned them.

How Much Does Ghost Development Cost?

What moves the price

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after I know what the publication has to do. A themed blog and a paid membership with a migrated archive are different jobs. These factors move the price.

GIOSTAR homepage, a website I built
  • How custom the theme is, against a lightly adapted one
  • Paid tiers, which add Stripe setup and testing
  • The size of an archive to be moved, with redirects
  • Whether the site is hosted by Ghost or on a server I set up
  • Integrations with a CRM, booking or analytics
  • How much staff training and written documentation you want
