Wix Migration

Why moving a site feels risky

A Wix site works, and then one day it does not do what the business needs. The page speed is weak, the search settings are limited, a feature the practice wants is not on offer, or the monthly plan has grown. The owner starts to think about WordPress and then stops, because moving the site sounds like losing it.

The fear is reasonable. Wix does not hand you a package of pages you can drop into another host. As far as I can tell, the design has to be rebuilt on the new platform.

The text, images and, with some effort, blog posts and product lists can be carried over. What cannot be carried over by magic are the web addresses, and those are where your search history lives.

Can You Move a Wix Site

What Wix does and does not hand over

If the new site launches with different addresses and nothing connects the old ones to the new, every link someone has shared and every page Google has listed leads to an error. That is how sites lose what they earned. A migration done properly is mostly about not letting that happen.

Work I built, live where you can check it

Every build below is real and every link goes to the live work. Two of the five are full websites I built and still run. The other three are brand and content work, and each card says which. None of them is a Wix migration, and I will not dress one up as that. What they show is how I plan, test and report on a build.

GIOSTAR: the clinic website, booking and lead tracking

I built and run giostarwellness.com for a regenerative medicine and wellness clinic in Henderson: every service page, online booking, financing and a blog. A website lead is tracked end to end, from the form to a booked consult to an active patient, with no manual steps. I also built its live brand hub, so every page, post and print piece pulls the same colours, type and rules.

Wix to WordPress Migration Las Vegas Reviews

What clients wrote on Google

Every written review on my Google Business Profile, word for word, including the one that gave four stars. Nothing is picked or paraphrased, and the link above opens the same reviews on Google. One reviewer, Kristy F., wrote that I was very helpful in resolving issues on a Webflow website. That was Webflow, not Wix, and I mention it because it shows I step into platforms I did not build. After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Wix to WordPress Migration Services Las Vegas

How the move runs, with the rollback point named

The old site stays live while I build the new one beside it. Each step ends with something you can open and check.

1. Inventory

I list every page, post, image, form and address on the current site, and note which ones get traffic and links.

2. Redirect map

Each old address is matched to its new one in a written table. This is the step that protects your search history.

3. Build beside the old site

The new WordPress site is built on a private address. The Wix site keeps running, so nothing is down while I work.

4. Test before switching

Forms, booking, speed, phones and every redirect are tested on the private copy. You review real pages.

5. Switch and keep the rollback

I change where the domain points, and keep the old Wix site available until I have confirmed the new one works. If something fails, I point the domain back.

6. Check and report

After the switch I look for pages that return errors and send a plain report on what carried over and what I fixed.

Squarespace Migration

The same sorting and redirect map apply when the starting point is Squarespace. If you are moving a store, I will tell you honestly whether WordPress or another store platform fits, and link to my pages on the platform choice. The order of work does not change: inventory, redirect map, build beside the old site, test, switch, check.

Wix to WordPress Migration Las Vegas Price

What moves the price

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after a free look at the site. A ten-page brochure site and a store with a blog archive are different jobs. These are the things that move the number.

GIOSTAR brand hub, a system I built
  • The number of pages, posts and products to move
  • How many unique page designs the new site needs
  • Forms, booking, payments and integrations to reconnect
  • Whether copy needs rewriting or the existing text is used as it is
  • How many old addresses need redirects
  • Whether the domain is registered at Wix and needs transferring

Wix to WordPress Migration Las Vegas Free

What I do for free

I do not do migrations for free. I do give you a free look at the site: a list of what you would be moving, what the traffic and links point to, and whether I think a move is the right call.

Some owners decide to stay on Wix after that, and I am fine with it. For the wider picture of how I run web projects, see web design in Las Vegas.

Is Moving From Wix to WordPress Worth It

What people ask online

Threads on this topic ask whether it is worth moving, whether you lose rankings and whether you can do it yourself. You can do it yourself if the site is small and you are patient.

The risk is in the redirects and in forms that quietly stop sending, and I would build a checklist for those before starting. I cannot promise rankings stay exactly as they were, but a mapped and tested move gives them the best chance of carrying over.
