Website Speed

Why a slow site costs visitors

A visitor on a phone decides quickly whether a page is worth waiting for. Heavy images, too many scripts, slow hosting and unoptimized fonts each add seconds, and the seconds stack. Most owners never see the visit that left, because the visitor simply tapped the next business in the results.

Speed is not a single setting. It is a set of small problems on each page, and each one needs a specific fix that can be checked afterward.

What Slows a Website Down

The usual causes

WebVegas homepage, a website I built
  • Images saved at full camera size and loaded on every page
  • Scripts from ads, chat tools and tracking that a page does not need
  • Slow hosting or a server far from the visitor
  • Fonts and theme code loaded on every page, including pages that never use them
  • Plugins that run on pages where they do nothing

Page Speed Optimization

How I measure a page

I measure each important page before I change anything, using the same tool before and after so the numbers compare. The tool is named on the log, and each measurement is recorded with its date and the page address. A single score on its own does not tell you whether a visitor waited less.

Website Speed Optimization

What each fix looks like

Every change is written as a line you can read: the page, the problem, the fix, the measurement before, the measurement after and the tool that took both. The log is the deliverable, so you can see what changed and why it was changed.
Line in the logWhat it recordsWhy it matters to you
The page and the problemThe address and what slowed itYou know which page to check
The fixWhat changed, in plain wordsNo change is a mystery
Before and afterOne measurement each, from the same toolThe change is visible, not promised
The toolThe tool name and the date it ranYou can run the same test yourself

Website Speed Optimization Services Las Vegas

What the service includes

Image sizing

Photos resized and compressed for the screen they appear on, without changing the design.

Script review

Each tracking, ad and chat script is checked for whether the page needs it at all.

Hosting check

Server response is measured, and a slow host is named in the written read.

Font and theme cleanup

Fonts and theme code load only on the pages that use them.

Website Speed Optimization Company Las Vegas

What to ask a speed company

Ask for the before and after measurements, the tool used for each one and a list of what changed. A company that reports only a single score has sold you a number. Ask also who makes the changes and whether the site can still be edited afterward.

How the options compare

Owners searching for speed help usually weigh three routes: a plugin that promises a score, an SEO firm that reports one, and a designer who changes the site itself. The plugin changes one layer, the SEO firm reports the score and the designer changes the page. The right route depends on which layer is slow.

Website Speed Optimization Cost

What moves the price

I quote a fixed price for a written scope, so the number you agree to is the number you pay. These are the things that move it.

GIOSTAR homepage, a website I built
  • How many pages need work
  • How many images, scripts and fonts the site carries
  • Whether the hosting has to change first
  • Whether the theme needs rebuilding or only trimming
  • Whether the fixes need to be checked again each month

Speed and Hosting Together

When the host is the slow part

Sometimes the slowest part of a site is the server it runs on. A slow server is named in the written read, with the measurement that shows it. Moving hosting is a separate step that the owner approves, and the web hosting page covers how the account moves.

What clients wrote on Google

Every written review on my Google Business Profile, word for word, including the one that gave four stars. Nothing is picked or paraphrased. Devin R. wrote that I "launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines," and a site that loads well is part of that kind of launch. After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Website Speed Steps

How a speed review starts

  1. Step 01

    Measure first

Key pages are measured before any change, and the tool is named on the log.

  2. Step 02

    Read the list

I list the slow items in order of how much each one weighs on the page.

  3. Step 03

    Change and test

Each fix is made, the page is checked and the forms are tested.

  4. Step 04

    Measure again

The after measurement goes on the same log line, with the date.
