WordPress Maintenance
Why WordPress sites need a plugin review
WordPress runs on a core of software plus plugins, and each plugin comes from its own developer on its own schedule. A site with forty plugins has forty places where an update can break a page or leave a gap. Most of those plugins were added for one project and never reviewed again.
A WordPress maintenance plan starts with a plugin audit and then keeps the list short. It does not replace the site or change the design. It makes sure every plugin left on the site has a reason to be there and a current version.
The monthly visit ends with a short written note: what was updated, what was left alone and why, and what needs your decision before the next visit.

WordPress Support
What WordPress support covers
Support covers the requests that come in between the scheduled checks: a broken contact form, a menu that will not save, a page that shows an error on a phone. Each request is logged with the date, the cause and the fix, so the next person who works on the site knows what was already tried.

- Core, theme and plugin updates, applied in a set order
- A backup before each batch of changes
- Form and checkout tests after each update
- A check for plugins their publisher no longer maintains
- Admin accounts reviewed and old ones removed
- A monthly note that lists every change
WordPress Plugin Audit
Keep, replace or remove
Every plugin gets one of three answers, and each answer is written next to the reason for it. The table shows how the answers are reached and what the owner sees afterward.
The audit also looks at what each plugin loads on the page. A plugin that adds scripts to every page slows the pages where it is not needed, so I note which pages use it and which only carry its weight. That list often shows two plugins doing the same job.
| Plugin condition | What I do | What changes for you |
|---|---|---|
| Still maintained and needed by a page or form | Keep it and update it in a set order | Fewer surprise changes |
| Needed, but out of date or weak | Replace it with a maintained option | The same feature on current code |
| Not used by any page, form or product | Remove it after a backup | Fewer updates to track |
| Duplicates a feature another plugin already does | Keep one and remove the other | One place to change each setting |
| Not updated by its publisher for a long time | Replace it before the next platform update | No plugin left unreviewed |
Finding a WordPress Expert
What a WordPress expert should show you
Ask to see the plugin list, the last update date for each plugin, the place the backups are kept and the admin users who can sign in. A WordPress expert who can show those in a short written document can run the site. One who cannot is guessing.
A reference helps more than a sales page. Ask the person to name one site they maintain, the last plugin they removed and why, and what they did the last time an update broke a page. A specific answer tells you more than a list of badges.

Best WordPress Maintenance Services
How the options compare
Owners comparing WordPress maintenance services usually see three routes: a plugin bundle sold with the hosting, a generalist plan from an agency, or a designer who builds and maintains the site. The right fit depends on who edits the content and how many plugins the site already runs.

WordPress Maintenance Company
What to ask before you sign
Ask who holds the hosting account, who holds the WordPress admin login, where the last backup lives and what a restore involves. A company that answers those questions in writing can be checked. One that answers in general terms is asking for trust.
A company that maintains WordPress should be able to say where the backups sit, how long they are kept and how a restore is tested. A backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a plan, so the monthly note includes one restore check.

WordPress Maintenance Cost
What moves the price
I quote a fixed price for a written scope, so the cost you agree to is the number you pay. These are the things that move it.

- How many plugins the site runs and how many need replacing
- Whether the theme is custom or bought off the shelf
- How many pages, forms and stores the site carries
- Whether a one-time cleanup has to come before the schedule
- How often the content changes and who makes the changes
WordPress Hosting and Maintenance
Hosting that matches WordPress
WordPress runs best on hosting set up for it, with the account in your name. Managed WordPress hosting handles the server side, but the plugin decisions still need a person. The hosting and maintenance page covers how I set both up together.

WordPress Plugin Replacement
When a plugin has to go
A plugin is replaced when its publisher stops updating it, when it conflicts with the current version of WordPress, or when a lighter option does the same job. Before a replacement, I take a backup, write down the settings and test the forms, where the host allows a copy. The old plugin comes out only after the new one is confirmed working.
Replacing a plugin is a change to a live site, so it runs on a copy first. I test the forms, the booking or checkout step, the search and the mobile menu on the copy, then move the change over in a window you have agreed to. The old plugin is removed only after the new one has run cleanly for a week.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we reached out to Justin for some AI consulting advice on where our service business could actually use automation. He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Las Vegas has no shortage of people claiming to be experts, and he's one of the few who could back it up.

Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.
