Gym Advertising

Ads that fill trial classes

Gym advertising pays off when each ad is traced to a trial membership that stays past the first month. I plan offer-led campaigns on search, social and local platforms, and I add the cancellation view so the readout shows members who stayed, not only sign-ups. I work from Las Vegas and run campaigns for gyms elsewhere over calls.

Gym Advertising Spend

Where the trial budget goes

A gym's ad spend usually runs in three places at once: a search campaign for class and gym terms, a social campaign with a trial offer, and a local listing campaign. Each one reports clicks and sign-ups in its own dashboard, and none reports the member who stayed for six months.

The gap is the cancellation. A trial that brings in people who leave in the third week costs more than the ad report shows, and the owner feels that cost at the front desk, not in the ad account.

Gym Offer Campaigns

Offers that bring members back

Offer-led campaigns work when the offer is written to bring in people who fit the gym, such as a first-week pass for a specific class format or a trial with a new coach. A generic free trial brings in whoever clicks, and most of them never come back.

I test one offer at a time, track each one to its own trial and cancellation count, and keep the offers whose members are still training in the third month.

Gym Ad Channels

Where a gym ad runs

Each channel reaches a different visitor, so each one gets its own creative and its own landing page.

Google Ads for gym searches

Search ads reach people already typing a class format, a gym or a neighborhood. The ad goes to the schedule or trial page for that format.

Facebook and Instagram ads

Social ads reach people near the gym who are not searching yet. The creative shows the class, the coach and the first step.

Local listing support

An accurate Google Business Profile with the classes and photos supports the ads, and the profile is measured alongside them.

Retargeting

Visitors who viewed the schedule but did not start a trial can see a reminder, with frequency limits so the reminder does not wear thin.

Short video

Short clips of real classes, filmed with consent from everyone shown, give a new visitor a first look before the first class.

Gym Cancellation Readout

Members who stayed, not just sign-ups

The cancellation view depends on the gym's own member records. If the gym can share them, the readout counts members, not only sign-ups. If it cannot, I say so in the scope and report the sign-up numbers alone.

GIOSTAR homepage, a website I built
  • Trial sign-ups by campaign and offer
  • Trials that became members, by campaign
  • Cancellations in the first thirty days, by campaign
  • Members still active at the review date
  • Changes made and the offer each one tested

Gym Advertising Process

How a campaign is planned

Every campaign runs the same five steps, and each one ends with something the owner can open and check.

  1. Step 01

    Read the member data

I look at the current sign-up, trial and cancellation records, and send a written read before any new spend.

  2. Step 02

Agree the offer and the audience

The offer, the audience and the excluded searches are written on one page before launch.

  3. Step 03

    Build the pages

Each offer gets its own landing page, so the ad sends a visitor to the trial for the class they searched for.

  4. Step 04

    Launch with tracking on

Trial forms, calls and member record matches are tested before the first ad goes live.

  5. Step 05

    Read the monthly readout

Each month shows trial sign-ups, members kept and the changes made, so the next offer is chosen from data.

Gym Advertising Cost

What sets the ad scope

I quote a fixed price for a written scope after reading the gym's member data and current spend. A single studio and a multi-location chain need different campaigns, so one price list would be wrong for both.

A storefront street in the Valley
  • How many locations and class formats the ads cover
  • How many offers are tested in a season
  • Which channels the readout has to cover
  • Whether member records can be shared for the cancellation view
  • Creative the gym has to produce, such as video or photos

Closest Work for Gyms

No gym campaign to show

I have not run ads for a gym, and I do not claim a gym result. The closest work I have is a brand for a Las Vegas event venue and a healthcare website, both described above. I can show the tracking and the readout I would use for a gym, built on those projects.

After going back and forth on whether to bring in outside help, we ended up working with Justin for some AI consulting on how to structure our operations. He laid out a clear plan, didn't overcomplicate it, and we've been running smoother since. Good fit for a service business. He knows Las Vegas and he knows this stuff.

Justin joined our team a few months before opening to replace a marketing agency that wasn’t performing. He stepped up fast. Within weeks he launched a fully redesigned website with new brand guidelines, built and delivered our marketing plan and AI strategy, and helped implement our system architecture so we could open on time. Since then, he’s made several critical enhancements to the site that helped us generate revenue in our first month. His engagement was supposed to end at opening, but he became such an integral part of our leadership team that we kept him on to help evolve our marketing and tech strategy as we grow. He’s easy to work with, pushes back when it matters, and moves easily between strategy, delivery, and operations depending on what’s needed. If you’re looking for a deeply experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated marketing, AI, or technology consultant, I highly recommend Justin Harris AI Consulting.

He was straightforward about what made sense and what didn't. Ended up being a useful conversation. Knew Justin before he started building AI systems for businesses, and watching what he's put together is genuinely impressive. He built out an AI automation setup for my website in Las Vegas and it changed how we handle leads completely. The guy actually runs this stuff himself, so he knows what works.

Gym Ad Creative

What the ad shows first

The first frame of a gym ad should show the thing the visitor came for: the class, the coach or the space. Stock footage of a generic weight room tells a visitor nothing about the gym they could join.

I write headlines from the class names and trial terms a visitor actually reads, and I keep the claims to what the gym can deliver. Ads do not promise weight loss or fitness results, because a member's results belong to the member.
